The Ergene Platform goes on to meet for the Let the Ergene Return the Life II(10 Nisan 2011 Karamusul Lüleburgaz Ergene Hayata Dönsün II).
Thrace non-governmental organisations gathered on 6 March 2011 in Luleburgaz and on 10 March 2011 in Babaeski.
The formation under the name of “the Ergene Platform” which is supported by approximately 60s institution and NGOs from Thrace that want the Ergene problem to be solved emergently made mettings in Lüleburgaz and Babaeski for the let the Ergene Return the Life II which will be held on 10 April 2011. The members of the formation of “ We are not going to give the Anatolia” (Anadolu’ yu vermeyeceğiz!) which is formed because of being killed of the environment by the hydroelectric power plant (HES) and the other dam projects also attended the meeting in Luleburgaz in order to support the works of the Ergene Platform and a presentation was also made in the meeting. The decisions about the action plan for the 10 April 2011 Karamusul Meeting in the well-attended meetings and an arrangement committee was formed.
The Conclusion Manifesto
It was emphasized in the Ergene Platform Meeting that Ergene was abandoned to his 30-year bad fate and the poeple living there say that “ That’s enough, we do not want to die!”
While Ergene meant the abundance and re-birth, it means disappearance now.
Being polluted and exposed to nature massacre of the Ergene River for approximately 30 years has laid the groundwork for the rebellion.
The Ergene Basin is a part of the homeland which has the most fertile agricultural lands. The idiom “If you plant human, it even grows” almost explains the Ergene Basin.
74% of the Thrace lands are agricultural lands. When the marginal agricultural lands are also added to this ratio, it leads to 84%. On those lands, Thrace cultivates 63% of sun flower, 44% of rice and 9% of wheat production of Turkey.
We call out the people who give permission to the dirty industry and operate them, and the people who do not perform their duty of supervision and control. The people, who do not have any sin in the pollution, compensate by dying.
The Ergene Platform that sees the dirty flow of Ergene as their own problem and start with the “let the Ergene return the Life” motto, has got together without letting any NGO to forestall the pollution of Ergene or without sheltering under any poliltical and ideological institution or organisation. They are just the friends of nature who only and only aim at handing down a clear future to the future generations.
The platform is made up of NGOs which show activity in lots of places in Thrace and lots of people who have different world views come together in the platform. The platform is a formation in which all the other identities are kept in the background.
It should be especially emhasized that the Ergene Platform was firstly known with the “ Let the Ergene Return Back the Life” action in Uzunköprü District of Edirne on 24 October 2010.
Many works and visits are realised in the parallel of those subjects. The platform acts jointly by forming a common reason as a result of some negotiations.
The Ergene Platform is under oath to purse those endeavours until the Ergene River flows clean. For this reason, decision of a second action has been taken.
ON THE DATE OF 10 APRIL 2011, THE THRACE WILL MEET IN KARAMUSUL WEARING BLACKS.
OUR SLOGAN IS “10 THOUSAND PEOPLE ON 10TH OF APRIL” FOR ERGENE TO RETURN BACK THE LIFE.
It is an important detail that the Karamusul Village is chosen for this action which has the “Let the Ergene Return the Life” theme. This village next to the river is affected negatively by the river directly and all living things there are also affected because of the river.
The death of the people living there is not their fate. The Ergene Basin is turning into the death basin and it is not distributing abundance and fertility but it is distributing death to its environment. The Ergene giving life to the resources from which it emerges and every kind of living things along 30 kilometers, starts to die and kill beginning from the point that it comes together with the industry. Ergene has to turn back the life. Moreover, the people who are sinful having the biggest crimes in this pollution have to be punished emergently and what is necessary has to be done.
It is enough, any more! Do not let Ergene to run in the poison. We invite all people who do not want Ergene to run in the poison and all the citizens who do not let those land to be poisoned by the chemical and industrial wastes to the Karamusul Village on 10 April.
We are not going to leave the women alone in this activity. We are going to walk together side by side and arm-in-arm. We are going to be there to promulgate our struggle not only to our region and country but also to the whole world.
The people who belive that the socail peace will come from the land and all the young, elder people, all peasants and all urban dwellers to whom Ataturk consigned these lands are also going to be there and bawl like a single body.
On 10th of April, we are going to be in Karamusul wearing black clothes, mourning in blacks. We will pursue our struggle, we will not turn back from our way! There is not any power to be able to make us turn back!
Our fight will go on from the point that Ergene emerges from and until the point that pours itself to the sea, until it gives live to its environment again.
We bawl to give a clear future to the next generations:
